CAST 3. Demonstrate TAILING LOOPS on the forward cast on command.

A good instructor should always be able to demonstrate the right way and the other way of doing something. Learning how to throw tailing loops can be challenging in that most of us are "pre programmed" not to cast tailing loops. It is important to be able to show a student what a tailing loop looks like when casting a fly line so they may visualize the shape of the tailing loop and the problems it may cause. There are several ways to cast a tailing loop. The root cause generally speaking is the over application of power at some point in the casting stroke. Experiment overpowering or over accelerating the rod, and in no time at all you to will be able to cast tailing loops at will.
